It’s no surprise keeping things organized when you have a toddler is difficult. They want to play with their favorite things and toss them to the side when they are finished. After about ten minutes there is a full blown mess.
So, what lead me to get an organization system in place for my toddler that’s foolproof?
One day I came home from work after getting our little one from our new babysitters’.
Drawers were all over the floor, laundry spilled out and clothes everywhere, It was so frustrating coming home to a huge mess of toddler clothing.
I swear it was like everywhere I looked, there was laundry.
Put away out of season clothing
Reorganized and put away winter clothes since the weather is like 80 here right now in NE Ohio.
Keeping some out of season clothing in case of a change in weather.
Separate drawer for socks and underwear
For the longest time, the socks and underwear would get messed up and mixed around. The tights would too, so it was time to break the cycle and get a handle on the madness.
Designating a box for shoes
Encouraging habits of keeping things orderly
Teaching the habit of putting things back where they belong can aid in preventing a mess.
Another great thing to do is to have your little one’s outfits paired up and ready to go.
Keeping organized is hard and it’s even more challenging to keep your toddler’s things organized.
Similar to my other post about simple tips on keeping the house clean, I recommend keeping collapsible totes or storage bins around the house.
At least keeping the bins in the most frequently played areas will help tremendously, especially when its time to clean up.
How do you keep things organized, or what would you do differently?
Until next time,
