Fall is back, and so is the cold weather that makes you want to curl up in a hoodie with a blanket. Meal planning can be stressful, prepping some of these crock pot meals makes it easy. Thawing a bag in the fridge the day before, and dumping the meal in the crockpot makes for an easy day.
What is a Crock pot?
I assume not everyone knows what a crockpot is, and that’s okay. So, a crockpot is like a giant pot that sits in a heating element and is used to cook mainly soups, dips, and any other meal that is meant to be slow cooked.
What are the benefits to using a crock pot?
If you’re a busy person like me, or you work an odd shift where cooking is a challenge for your family, a crockpot is an easy solution so you can pretty much “set it and forget it”.
- setting it in the morning and not having to tend to it
- uses less electricity than an oven
- food typically has more flavor
- any meats made in here pretty much fall apart
Why do I love using a crockpot?
I work third shift and my husband works typical dayshift between 9 and 6 every day. We have three children and meal planning is always a headache or dilemma. Dinner is seriously my most dreaded time of the day. It never fails, the question “what’s for dinner” or “any ideas for dinner” drive me up a wall. So, when I’m not really feeling up to cooking that day I typically prep the crock pot and throw a meal together for dinner to cook all day.
